Free Admissions to museums?

Recently, more and more museums are open to the public free of charge so that they can attract more visitors. However, it has also brought some unexpected problems. Should we carry on the practice? People’s views vary from one to another.

Those who are in favor of the policy think museums belong to public services, and free admission will provide people, especially those who cannot afford the admission, an access to knowledge. But others might not agree, and they are right in a sense. For one thing, their main concern is that with more visitors, objects exhibited may get damaged more easily. For another, it becomes a huge economic burden for museums to run as usual without any profits from the visitors

In my opinion, I am absolutely in favor of this practice. The reason lies in the fact that the government should provide more opportunities for citizens to explore and get access to the public knowledge and local culture. Moreover, kids and teenagers can learn more knowledge in the vivid ways in museums. I hope all the people can share the same national treasures in more free museums.

Sample 2

Nowadays, many museums are opening free to the public, reaching out to more and more audiences. However, the free-admission policy has also triggered many problems.

First and foremost, there is the pressure on the conservation of the exhibits. Since they are exposed to countless touches and camera flashes each day, many of them are in poor condition or even damaged. Besides, the exhibition rooms are often polluted by visitors with little environmental awareness. Last but not least, with too many people crowding and making noise in the exhibition hall, the museum becomes a busy street instead of a quiet cultural place. Therefore, the original purpose of a museum is lost.

All in all, though free museums are a sign of civilization progress, admission must be conducted in a controlled manner.
